Introduction of Partnerships Act postponed once again

datum:
20 juni 2009

The reform of the system of general partnerships, limited partnerships and partnership firms, as envisaged in the newly drafted Partnerships Act (WPV; Title 7.13 of the Dutch Civil Code), threatens to be postponed once again.

The employer organisations VNO-NCW and MKB Netherlands have sent an urgent letter to the Lower House of Parliament saying that the proposed system will increase their administrative costs and create practical problems. The Ministry of Justice had planned to introduce the legislation on 1 January 2010, but with the Lower House postponing the debate on the bill ‘until further notice', it is unlikely the new system will become law before the summer of 2010.
